Kat Darger
MA, LMHCA
Kat is a passionate psychotherapist who brings warmth, depth and insight to her work with clients. She utilizes a psychodynamic, strengths-based approach to address a range of concerns including anxiety, behavioral challenges, grief, relationships and self-esteem. Kat is particularly skilled at holding space for complex emotions and helping clients disentangle the underlying and repetitive patterns that inhibit personal growth.
Kat has a special interest in exploring the growing worry and despair many feel about our changing climate. She works thoughtfully with clients navigating eco-anxiety and ecological grief, helping them process these profound concerns and reconnect with their values and sense of agency. Additionally, Kat has specific expertise in supporting individuals with cyclical mood challenges such as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), providing individualized care that honors their particular experiences and fosters a sense of wellbeing in their lives.
For Kat, therapy is a collaborative process that helps clients access their inner strengths and wisdom as well as discover new pathways for growth in the safety of a supportive relationship. She creates with clients a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where they can begin to explore the parts of themselves that are difficult to access alone. This process of insight and the possibility of new relational experiences can help to build resilience and move clients toward new ways of being with themselves and others. Kat is deeply committed to helping her clients navigate life’s intricacies with clarity, courage and confidence.
Kat holds a Bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College and earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from Saint Martin’s University. Kat has experience working in community mental health, crisis and advocacy, private practice with individuals, and support group settings. She continues to enthusiastically pursue research and learning to build competency and specialization, interested in a holistic and relational psychotherapy grounded deeply in neuroscience.
Beyond her work as a therapist, Kat finds inspiration and renewal in exploring the mossy forests of the Pacific Northwest, where she feels a meaningful connection to nature. She has a deep passion for art and music, and appreciates beauty in all its forms. These interests fuel her creativity and grounded presence, enriching her work with clients.
