About Self & Other

Relationships are central to our philosophy of care

At Self and Other, we know that understanding one’s self with an other, who is attuned to our experience and needs can improve wellbeing and create the conditions for growth. We also know that there is more going on beneath the surface of human life than one can possibly recognize alone.

Where other therapies tend to focus on treating symptoms of distress in isolation, we know the value of working with the larger context of a person’s life. Research findings point to relational and depth modalities leading to insight, pattern changes and growth that persists long after the therapy relationship has ended.

Self and Other was born out of a desire and commitment to offer clients more than manualized or pre-defined therapies that don't recognize the unique and complex experiences and needs of the individual. We want to offer clients the chance to work with therapists who will help them change their lives.

Self and Other’s clinicians are experts in relationships. We work toward co-creating a safe relational space with clients. In this space, we can work through past and present interpersonal difficulties, develop more adaptive coping strategies, and improve your relationship with yourself and others.

We have a special interest in supporting people who have previously been in therapy and are looking to deepen self-work. All of our clinicians are trained in relational, insight, and depth modalities. We’ll work to understand your unique goals and needs, carefully determining which of our clinicians is best suited to your unique needs.
